I understand the criticisms of warning women of something they they are not creating and have zero control over. Posting things like this can’t really do a whole lot when it’s not affecting the cause. I have been victimized by men in this area when there was no warning issued and I doubt that it will do much but make women feel at fault for being victimized.
However, I would feel like such a piece of shit if I was not spreading the word of this. Like many women I work in this area, have lived in this area, and have even targeted by men for harassment and assault in this area. I am always on my guard and in my experience that has not done a lot. I do not know what posting this could help someone- but maybe it could help? Who knows.
This information is vague at best, but here it is.
Treat your ears right. Listen to the new Wolf Shaped Clouds.

I love this band!

Now entering its fourth year, this annual festival initially held in the spring in Edmonton, Alberta provides three full days of DIY community, discussion, activities, hangouts, and performances by the finest “DIY”, “hardcore” and “post-hardcore” bands from Western Canada and beyond. There’s simply to much goodness to be contained in a single city, so this year Ghost Throats has expanded to include a Calgary date. Ghost Throats was initially centered on the budding post-hardcore scene in central Alberta but has reached out to include bands coming out from all over including far wrung cities such as Victoria, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver & Seattle.
The festival runs for 3 days first weekend in June; June 1 & 2 in Edmonton and June 3rd in Calgary.

When I was a kid, I was surrounded by tons of different hardcore bands. My friends and others trying to persuade me to listen to their preferred albums, it was a time of curiosity and finding new favorites. But amongst all the bands and albums being thrown at me, there was only one that I could come home to from a bad day, clenching my fists as hard as I could while literally screaming along to the words, and feel better than I did that whole day after listening. Unfortunately, I won’t ever get to play a show with this band, nor even see them again, but the one great thing about bands breaking up are the bands to rise from the ashes. At the risk of sounding like a super fanboy, Chris Colohan hasn’t slowed down at all since the end of Cursed, and has focused most of his energy into Burning Love, who will be touring Canada. This summer, I finally get to play a show with Chris Colohan. It’s weird to use the word “idol”, I probably won’t be gushing over him like I would have been even just a couple of years ago, but I will thank him for the music he’s helped create because of what it did for me, whether he likes it or not.
Falsehood w/ Burning Love June 16th in Calgary. Come hang out!
